Patras: Three days of jazz in the courtyard of the new city hall in “Old Arsakeio”.

Unity jazz and more opens this year’s events International Patra Festival on Friday, June 14 at 9:30 p.m into courtyard of the new town hall (old Arsakeio).

Jazz fans and… not only, will take part in a three-day musical feast and a guided tour of special artists on the streets of jazz and its “unknown” paths.

PREMIERE WITHKOLIDABABO”

Next Friday night, “Kolida Babo”, two musicians specializing in wind instruments with sounds and influences from different regions of Greece, will make their mark at the institution’s premiere. Sokratis Votskos from Pella and Harris P. from Athens will explain on stage why jazz and music in general is a universal language accessible to all, guided by creativity and the collective expression “car”.

In live sessions, they explore the traditional music of Armenia, the folk traditions of Epirus and Thrace, and abstract electronics and free jazz.

SATURDAY JUNE 15 CONTINUES WITH “HARPERTRIO”

Electric jazz harpist and composer Maria-Christina Harper takes up the baton on Saturday June 16 to reinvent the sound of the harp in the jazz world.

With an interest in pushing the traditional boundaries of the harp, he presents the instrument in new and exciting ways, fusing its traditional musical roots with fricassee to create an irresistible, exciting sonic universe where East meets West.

Maria-Christina collaborated with two renowned musicians, drummer Evan Jenkins and dynamic saxophonist Josephine Davies, to form the Harper Trio, which produced seven original compositions. The compositions flirt with avant-garde and psychedelic sounds, creating an extremely interesting spiritual-jazz soundscape.

CLIMATE AND FINAL “MEDITERRANEAN EHOES” WITH ALEKOS VRETOS QUARTET

The three-day “Jazz&more” section ends and concludes with the appearance of “Jazz&more” in the courtyard of the old Arsakey on Sunday, June 16. Alekos Vretos Mediterranean Echoes,this time, percussion and drums are not included.

Rhythm is implied here, leaving room for musicians to use melodies to say what they want. The traditional clarinet of Yiannis Diskos on the oud and the piano of Dimitris Verdinoglou and the bass of Dinos Manos speaks effortlessly.

The best artists weave their own elements into the tunes they are asked to play and make them their own without depriving them of their original color and meaning. Since the collective musical character prevails, the compositions to be played are from all four.

Compositions include AraDinkjian, Simon Shaheen, Anouar Brahem and more.
