The next film from the multi-award winning Greek director George Lanthimos with the title “BugoniaAccording to distribution company Focus Features, it will premiere in American theaters in 2025.
The film is based on South Korea’s “Save the Green Planet!” based on the sci-fi comedy. 2003, written and directed by Jang Jun-Wan. The screenplay by Emmy Award winner Will Tracy “pwith two young men obsessed with conspiracy theories who kidnap the powerful CEO of a large corporation, convinced that he is an alien and intent on destroying the Earth.”
Lanthimos is reunited with her muse and Oscar winner Emma Stone, as well as Cannes-winning Kinds of Kindness star Jesse Plemons.
According to Deadline, Focus Features has taken over the film in America, Universal Pictures in the rest of the world and CJ ENM in Korea.
Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe will produce via Element Pictures for Fruit Tree with Stone, Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen and Lanthimo for Square Peg and Miky Lee and Jerry Ko for Fremantle-sponsored “CJ ENM”.
