White and brown sugar are two different types of sugar, but is one healthier than the other?
Why are white sugar and brown sugar different colors? According to the Sugar Association, manufacturers do sugar extracting juice from sugar cane or sugar beet. The process involves refining, crystallizing and drying the sugar.

As for certain nutrients iron and calcium, brown sugar has a slightly higher content.
However, with teaspoon sizes, these metal differences are minimal not worth considering. Sugar alone is not a nutrient dense food and its calories are considered “empty”.
