Agia Anna Kindergarten Euboea Common Seas became the first Greek school to complete the “Plastic Free Smart Schools” program.
This is an educational program for elementary school that promotes knowledge and problem solving plastics increasing students’ environmental awareness.
Kindergarten children stopped using plastic bottles, plastic cups and plastic bags. “We are proud of the achieved goals,” said the director of the garden.
Three stages
For a school to be awarded the Plastic Free Smart School award, students are asked to follow three simple steps: “Inspire, Research, Act”. they become active global citizens.
Through education and active participation, students learn the importance of protecting the oceans and the role plastics play in this.
Kindergarten director Ms. Agiasofiti stated that “our efforts do not end there, we will continue with the same awareness and strength to help the sea and the environment, because young students prove to be the best defenders of their rights. our planet”.
The “Plastic Free Smart Schools” program is already active in more than 900 schools in 28 countries, with the first 20 schools registered in Greece.
